What is included
Carpet and rug cleaning by fibre. Wool, silk, viscose and synthetic each get their own chemistry and drying time. A hand knotted silk rug and a nylon office carpet have nothing in common except that both hold dust. We identify the fibre and construction first, then choose between shampoo, hot water extraction and low moisture methods so colours stay true and the pile recovers.
- Rug vacuumed on both sides to drop sand through the weave
- Dry cleaning compound brushed in, left to absorb soil, then vacuumed out
- Spills blotted with very little moisture and dried at once with a fan
- No wet shampoo or extraction on plant fibres
How we carry out sisal, jute and seagrass rug cleaning
Plant fibres soak up water quickly and let it go slowly. Sisal and jute turn brown where they get wet, a mark known as cellulosic browning, and jute weakens and can rot if it stays damp under a heavy piece of furniture. The weave is also loose enough for fine sand to fall straight through and gather on the floor beneath, which is why the technician lifts or flips the rug and vacuums both sides and the floor under it. Seagrass tolerates moisture a little better, but the same dry approach is used for all three.
Cleaning is done with a dry compound: barely damp absorbent granules brushed into the weave with a stiff brush, left to draw soil out of the fibres and then vacuumed away. Spills are blotted from the outside in with a white towel and only a little water, then dried straight away with a fan and the AC so no tide mark forms. Wine, coffee and pet accidents on sisal often leave a mark however carefully they are treated, and the supervisor tells you plainly which spots are likely to stay.
How it works
The same method on every job, so the result does not depend on who is on shift.
- Site visit and written quotation. A supervisor visits, measures and records every room, surface and extra. The written quotation that follows sets out the scope, with no hourly meter and nothing added on the day.
- Protect and prepare. Lifts, floors and furniture are protected and delicate finishes are logged on a surface register before any product is opened.
- Dry before wet, top before bottom. Dust is lifted with HEPA filtered vacuums from ceilings and fittings downwards. Each zone is then wet cleaned with chemistry matched to its finish.
- Detail work and floors. Tracks, switches, skirtings, handles and glass are finished by hand. Floors are machine scrubbed last so nothing is walked back in.
- Inspection and report. The supervisor signs all fourteen checks, photographs the result and sends you the report within the hour.
Sisal, Jute and Seagrass Rug Cleaning in Al Khalidiyah: what we plan for
Al Khalidiyah sits between the Corniche and the centre of Abu Dhabi island and is mostly apartment towers, from established mid rise blocks to taller buildings such as Shining Towers, Al Sawari Tower and Crescent Towers. In the middle of the district, Khalidiya Village is a gated community of villas and townhouses with its own clubhouse, pool and gym.
The district is dense and close to the sea, so humid air comes into apartments every time a balcony door opens. Traffic dust settles on window sills and in AC return grilles, and kitchens in smaller flats build up grease on extractor filters and wall tiles quickly.
Every tower needs a work permit from building management and a service lift booking before a crew can start. Khalidiya Village has gated security, so the resident registers our team ahead of time. What each building asks for is identified at the site visit and we prepare the paperwork.

Questions about sisal, jute and seagrass rug cleaning in Al Khalidiyah
What does sisal, jute and seagrass rug cleaning include?
Sisal, jute and seagrass stain and can brown or rot when wet, so these rugs are cleaned dry: thorough vacuuming, dry compound cleaning and careful blotting of spots. The work includes rug vacuumed on both sides to drop sand through the weave; dry cleaning compound brushed in, left to absorb soil, then vacuumed out; spills blotted with very little moisture and dried at once with a fan.
Why can't a jute rug be shampooed like a normal carpet?
Jute and sisal take water deep into the fibre and dry slowly, which turns them brown and, on jute, weakens the rug. Shampooing adds a lot of water and soap residue. Dry compound cleaning lifts the soil without soaking the fibres.
My sisal rug has a brown water mark. Can it be fixed?
Sometimes. Browning from water can lighten with a mild acidic treatment applied with very little moisture and dried fast, but it may not go entirely, and the treated area can look a shade different. The technician tries a small area first.
How much does sisal, jute and seagrass rug cleaning cost in Al Khalidiyah?
We do not publish prices, because no two jobs are the same. The main factors: size of the property and number of rooms; condition, and how long since the last deep clean. Book a site visit: a supervisor from The MELLS looks at the work and you receive a written quotation with a defined scope before anything begins.

How long does sisal, jute and seagrass rug cleaning take?
Typically 1 to 3 hours for most homes, with carpets dry in 4 to 8 hours. The time for your property is confirmed with the quotation.
How often should carpets be cleaned in Abu Dhabi?
Every six months in homes, and every three months in offices or homes with pets and children. Sand is abrasive and wears the pile if it stays in.
Do you clean rugs at home or take them away?
Most rugs are cleaned at your home. Delicate silk and antique pieces can be collected for a controlled wash and returned.
Will cleaning shrink or fade my wool rug?
Not when it is cleaned correctly. We use wool safe products, cool water and controlled drying, and we test the dyes first.
Do you arrange the building permit in Al Khalidiyah?
Yes. Most buildings ask contractors for a work permit, trade licence, insurance and staff IDs, and a service lift booking. We submit all of it for you.
Do you work in Khalidiya Village as well as the towers?
Yes. Khalidiya Village homes are handled as house projects with gardens and pools in scope, while tower apartments are planned around the building permit and the lift booking.
How do I choose a company for sisal, jute and seagrass rug cleaning in Al Khalidiyah?
Ask four things: who employs the people who will come, whether the scope is written down before work starts, how the result is checked, and what happens if something is missed. The MELLS uses its own staff, quotes in writing after a site visit, checks every job (14 Point Standard signed by the supervisor, with photographs before and after) and puts right any failed check free of charge within 48 hours.
