What is included
Interior and exterior painting by our own painters, with surfaces properly prepared, furniture fully protected and wet film thickness checked on every coat. A good paint finish is mostly preparation. Abu Dhabi walls move with heat, hairline cracks open at ceiling joints, and coastal air and irrigation mark exterior walls within a few seasons. We repair and prime before we paint, apply the system named in your quotation and leave the home clean enough to move straight back into.
- Wall brought to a flat, smooth base before any plaster
- Sample board made and agreed for colour and sheen
- Three or more thin coats trowelled in short random strokes
- Final coat burnished, then waxed or sealed where needed
How we carry out Venetian plaster and stucco
The wall beneath has to be flatter than for paint, so it is skimmed, sanded and primed with a quartz or bonding primer. The first coat of stucco is spread tight with a flexible steel trowel. Later coats are laid in short overlapping strokes, each one thin enough to see through, and left to dry between passes. On the final coat the trowel is held at a low angle and worked hard across the surface, which compresses the plaster and brings up the polish. Wax or sealer is added where the wall may be splashed.
The finish shows the hand of whoever applied it, so one wall should be completed by one applicator in one session. Stopping halfway leaves a visible join. Air conditioning blowing on the wall dries the plaster before it can be burnished, and a dirty or nicked trowel leaves black metal marks in pale colours. Repairs are difficult to hide later, so the choice of wall matters. The site visit checks flatness, corners, sockets and the light on the wall, and a sample board is agreed before work begins.
How it works
The same method on every job, so the result does not depend on who is on shift.
- Survey, colour and written scope. We measure, test the existing coating and agree colours, sheen and the number of coats. The written quotation names the paint system and the scope.
- Protection. Furniture is moved and wrapped, floors are covered edge to edge, and switches, handles and light fittings are masked or removed.
- Surface preparation. Walls are washed, flaking paint is scraped back, cracks are opened and filled, and everything is sanded flat. Damp or salt affected areas are treated before any paint goes on.
- Primer and finish coats. A sealer or primer suited to the substrate is followed by two finish coats. Wet film thickness is checked on every coat.
- Snagging and handover. We inspect in daylight with you, touch up, clean down and hand over a paint schedule listing brand, colour codes and batch numbers for future touch ups.
Venetian Plaster and Stucco in Jubail Island: what we plan for
Al Jubail Island sits between Saadiyat and Yas and is planned as a set of villages wrapped in mangroves. Most handed over homes are detached villas in Nad Al Dhabi, Seef Al Jubail and Marfaa Al Jubail, while Souk Al Jubail and Jubail Terraces add low rise apartments and townhouses near the island's centre.
Mangroves and tidal channels keep the air damp and warm most of the year, which feeds mould on shaded walls and inside AC cabinets. Villages still under construction nearby send fine dust onto new glass and paving. New render settles and fine cracks appear in the first year or two, usually around window corners. These are opened, filled and spot primed before touch up. Where mould has marked a shaded wall it is treated and sealed with a stain blocking primer first.
Entry to the island and to each village is controlled, and the resident registers our crew in advance. Low rise buildings ask for a permit and lift booking through management. Exterior changes need the master community's approval, identified at the site visit with the paperwork prepared by us.

Questions about Venetian plaster and stucco in Jubail Island
What does Venetian plaster and stucco include?
Venetian plaster is a lime or acrylic based stucco trowelled on in thin layers and burnished by steel blade to give a polished, stone like wall with depth and movement. The work includes wall brought to a flat, smooth base before any plaster; sample board made and agreed for colour and sheen; three or more thin coats trowelled in short random strokes.
Is Venetian plaster suitable for a bathroom?
It suits powder rooms and bathroom walls away from direct water, provided it is sealed or waxed. Inside a shower enclosure a lime based finish needs a specific waterproofing system and careful maintenance, so we normally suggest stone or tile there and stucco on the dry walls.
Can a damaged area be repaired later?
Small chips can be filled and burnished again, but the patch seldom disappears, because the pattern and polish are made in one continuous pass. A noticeable repair usually means redoing the final coat across the whole wall, from corner to corner.
How much does Venetian plaster and stucco cost in Jubail Island?
We do not publish prices, because no two jobs are the same. The main factors: wall and ceiling area and ceiling height; condition of the surface and how much repair is needed. Book a site visit: a supervisor from The MELLS looks at the work and you receive a written quotation with a defined scope before anything begins.

Do you repair cracks and damp patches before painting?
Yes. Cracks are opened, filled and sanded, and damp or salt affected plaster is treated and sealed first. Painting over a defect only hides it for a few months.
How long before the paint is fully dry?
Water based emulsion is touch dry in about an hour and can be recoated in around four hours. It reaches full hardness over two to four weeks, so avoid scrubbing new walls in that time.
How do your crews get access to Jubail Island?
Entry to the island and to each village is controlled, and the resident registers our crew in advance. Low rise buildings ask for a permit and lift booking through management. Exterior changes need the master community's approval, identified at the site visit with the paperwork prepared by us.
Is the mangrove humidity a problem for our home?
It can be. Keep AC running at a steady setting, check drains regularly and look behind wardrobes on outside walls. We check these points on every visit.
How do I choose a company for Venetian plaster and stucco in Jubail Island?
Ask four things: who employs the people who will come, whether the scope is written down before work starts, how the result is checked, and what happens if something is missed. The MELLS uses its own staff, quotes in writing after a site visit, checks every job (wet film thickness checked on every coat and an adhesion test at handover) and puts right any failed check free of charge within 48 hours.
