What is included

Light fixing and lighting installation for homes, offices and shops, from one replaced fitting to downlights, LED strip, pendants and outdoor lights. Most lighting faults in Abu Dhabi trace back to a fitting screwed into gypsum board alone, a driver with no headroom, or a joint that humidity has reached. Our own technicians isolate the circuit at the distribution board, prove it dead with a tester and work to the manufacturer's instructions. Any approval the building or the community asks for is identified at the site visit, and we prepare the paperwork.

How we carry out staircase lighting

The aim is to show the edge of every tread without a lamp shining in your face on the way down. Recessed step lights are set into the side wall at a regular height, one every second or third tread. Strip can run under each nosing or along the underside of the handrail in a channel with a diffuser. Cable is the hard part on a finished stair, so we look for a route through the wall, the stair soffit or a cupboard below before proposing any chasing.

Stairs in Abu Dhabi villas are usually clad in marble, and a chase cut through stone cladding does not patch invisibly. That pushes the design towards wall lights, handrail strip or lights on the soffit of the flight above. Strip under nosings fails when it is stuck to stone with no channel and then gets kicked or mopped. A stair with a switch at one end only is a hazard in itself. The site visit walks the stair, finds the feed and settles the cable route.

How it works

The same method on every job, so the result does not depend on who is on shift.

  1. Survey and diagnosis. A technician inspects the system or surface, takes readings and photographs, and explains what was found in plain language.
  2. Written quotation. You receive a written quotation against a defined scope before any work starts. Anything outside that scope is quoted separately.
  3. Protected, supervised work. The work area is protected and isolated, and the job is carried out by our own technicians under a named supervisor.
  4. Testing. Every job ends with a measured test suited to the discipline, so the result is a reading and a photograph and not an opinion.
  5. Report and warranty. The completed report reaches you within the hour. Any failed point is put right free of charge within 48 hours.

Staircase Lighting in Embassies District: what we plan for

The Embassies District, also known as Al Safarat or the Diplomatic Area, lies off Sheikh Rashid Bin Saeed Street towards Al Bateen Executive Airport. Most plots hold embassy buildings and diplomatic residences behind high walls, alongside low and mid rise apartment buildings, with the Rawdhat apartment blocks along the Airport Road side.

Wide roads and open plots let fine sand blow into gardens and across terraces. Embassy buildings and residences often have large stone or tiled entrance areas that show every footprint, and irrigation leaves mineral marks on boundary walls. Residences here usually run ducted AC, pumps and backup water storage. Servicing follows a schedule agreed with the facilities manager, and anything outside our scope is reported to them.

Access to embassy premises and diplomatic residences follows the site's own security procedure, confirmed at the site visit, and staff details are sent in advance for clearance. Apartment buildings need a work permit and a service lift booking, and we prepare the paperwork asked for.

What your quotation depends on

A quotation for staircase lighting in Embassies District follows a site visit. The supervisor looks at the points listed here and you receive a written quotation with a defined scope before any work begins. Once you accept it, nothing is added on the day.

Questions about staircase lighting in Embassies District

What does staircase lighting include?

Stair lighting uses low level step lights, strip under the nosing or handrail, or wall washers, switched from both floors or by a sensor at each end. The work includes layout marked tread by tread so no step is left in shadow; cable route found through the stair wall, soffit or cupboard below; two way switching or sensors set at top and bottom.

Can stair lights come on by themselves?

A sensor at the top and one at the bottom bring the lights on as someone approaches and switch them off after a set time. A daylight setting keeps them off while the stair is bright enough without them.

Is it possible to light a marble staircase without cutting the stone?

Often it is. Handrail strip, lights on the wall above the skirting line and fittings under the flight above all avoid the cladding. Where a chase is the only route, the quotation says so and explains how the stone will be made good.

How much does staircase lighting cost in Embassies District?

We do not publish prices, because no two jobs are the same. The main factors: size and type of the system or surface; present condition and ease of access. Book a site visit: a supervisor from The MELLS looks at the work and you receive a written quotation with a defined scope before anything begins.

Who provides staircase lighting in Embassies District?

The MELLS provides staircase lighting in Embassies District, Abu Dhabi. The work is carried out by people The MELLS employs directly, under a named supervisor, 08:00 to 19:00, Monday to Saturday. To arrange it, book a site visit on this page or call +971 55 444 0084.

How long does staircase lighting take?

Typically 1 to 3 hours for a few fittings, longer for whole rooms. The time for your property is confirmed with the quotation.

Should every light in a room be the same colour?

Within one room, yes. Warm white suits living rooms and bedrooms, and neutral white suits kitchens and work areas. Two whites on one ceiling look patchy, so we read the colour temperature printed on each lamp before it is fitted.

Do you fix and install lights in Embassies District?

Yes. Our own technicians replace single fittings and install complete lighting in villas, apartments, offices and shops across Abu Dhabi. A site visit confirms the ceiling type, the fixing points and the circuit before the scope is put in writing.

Can you install lights that I have bought myself?

Yes. Have the fitting out of its box at the site visit so we can check its weight, the driver it needs and its rating for the room. If a bathroom or garden fitting is not sealed for that location, we tell you before it goes up.

How do your crews get access to Embassies District?

Access to embassy premises and diplomatic residences follows the site's own security procedure, confirmed at the site visit, and staff details are sent in advance for clearance. Apartment buildings need a work permit and a service lift booking, and we prepare the paperwork asked for.

Can your team work inside an embassy building?

Yes, by appointment and only under the mission's own security procedure. Staff names and ID details are submitted in advance, and the supervisor follows the escort and room access rules set by the facilities manager.

How do I choose a company for staircase lighting in Embassies District?

Ask four things: who employs the people who will come, whether the scope is written down before work starts, how the result is checked, and what happens if something is missed. The MELLS uses its own staff, quotes in writing after a site visit, checks every job (a measured test for every job, with photographs before and after) and puts right any failed check free of charge within 48 hours.

How are visits to Embassies District arranged?

Visits in Abu Dhabi are booked by appointment between 08:00 and 19:00, Monday to Saturday. Call or send the form and we agree the earliest time a supervisor can come to you.
