What is included
Light fixing and lighting installation for homes, offices and shops, from one replaced fitting to downlights, LED strip, pendants and outdoor lights. Most lighting faults in Abu Dhabi trace back to a fitting screwed into gypsum board alone, a driver with no headroom, or a joint that humidity has reached. Our own technicians isolate the circuit at the distribution board, prove it dead with a tester and work to the manufacturer's instructions. Any approval the building or the community asks for is identified at the site visit, and we prepare the paperwork.
- Circuit isolated at the distribution board and proved dead
- Old fitting removed and the cable ends inspected for heat damage
- New fitting fixed to the slab, a joist or a rated anchor
- Lamp, switch and earth connection tested before handover
How we carry out light fixing and replacement
The breaker for the lighting circuit is switched off, and a tester on the terminals confirms the cable is dead before anyone touches it. The old fitting comes down and the cable ends are looked at closely: brittle insulation or a browned terminal block means the last lamp ran hot. The new fitting is fixed to the slab, a joist or a rated anchor, the conductors are terminated in a proper connector, and the earth is made off even where the old fitting left it tucked away unused.
Most of the loose lights we are called to were screwed into gypsum board with a plastic plug. They hold for a year or so, then the board crumbles around the screw and the fitting hangs on its cable. In Abu Dhabi apartments the other common find is a joint wrapped in tape above the ceiling, left by a previous tenant. The site visit looks at the ceiling type, the weight of the new fitting and whether the existing switch suits it.
How it works
The same method on every job, so the result does not depend on who is on shift.
- Survey and diagnosis. A technician inspects the system or surface, takes readings and photographs, and explains what was found in plain language.
- Written quotation. You receive a written quotation against a defined scope before any work starts. Anything outside that scope is quoted separately.
- Protected, supervised work. The work area is protected and isolated, and the job is carried out by our own technicians under a named supervisor.
- Testing. Every job ends with a measured test suited to the discipline, so the result is a reading and a photograph and not an opinion.
- Report and warranty. The completed report reaches you within the hour. Any failed point is put right free of charge within 48 hours.
Light Fixing and Replacement in Embassies District: what we plan for
The Embassies District, also known as Al Safarat or the Diplomatic Area, lies off Sheikh Rashid Bin Saeed Street towards Al Bateen Executive Airport. Most plots hold embassy buildings and diplomatic residences behind high walls, alongside low and mid rise apartment buildings, with the Rawdhat apartment blocks along the Airport Road side.
Wide roads and open plots let fine sand blow into gardens and across terraces. Embassy buildings and residences often have large stone or tiled entrance areas that show every footprint, and irrigation leaves mineral marks on boundary walls. Residences here usually run ducted AC, pumps and backup water storage. Servicing follows a schedule agreed with the facilities manager, and anything outside our scope is reported to them.
Access to embassy premises and diplomatic residences follows the site's own security procedure, confirmed at the site visit, and staff details are sent in advance for clearance. Apartment buildings need a work permit and a service lift booking, and we prepare the paperwork asked for.

Questions about light fixing and replacement in Embassies District
What does light fixing and replacement include?
A failed or unwanted light is taken down, the cable and fixing point are checked, and the new fitting goes up on a proper anchor before the circuit is tested. The work includes circuit isolated at the distribution board and proved dead; old fitting removed and the cable ends inspected for heat damage; new fitting fixed to the slab, a joist or a rated anchor.
Can you fit a light I bought online?
As long as it suits the supply voltage and the room, yes. We look at the weight, the driver and the rating at the site visit. A fitting with no earth terminal or no markings at all is one we will advise against putting up.
Why did my new light stop working after a few weeks?
The usual causes are a driver that overheats in a closed ceiling void, a loose connection behind the fitting, or a dimmer on the circuit that the lamp was never made for. We test each of them before replacing anything.
How much does light fixing and replacement cost in Embassies District?
We do not publish prices, because no two jobs are the same. The main factors: size and type of the system or surface; present condition and ease of access. Book a site visit: a supervisor from The MELLS looks at the work and you receive a written quotation with a defined scope before anything begins.
Who provides light fixing and replacement in Embassies District?
The MELLS provides light fixing and replacement in Embassies District, Abu Dhabi. The work is carried out by people The MELLS employs directly, under a named supervisor, 08:00 to 19:00, Monday to Saturday. To arrange it, book a site visit on this page or call +971 55 444 0084.
How long does light fixing and replacement take?
Typically 1 to 3 hours for a few fittings, longer for whole rooms. The time for your property is confirmed with the quotation.
Is a permit needed for lighting work in a tower or mall in Embassies District?
Towers and malls normally ask for a work permit, and a retail unit has to follow the landlord fit out guide. We identify what applies at the site visit and prepare the paperwork the building or the landlord asks for.
Should every light in a room be the same colour?
Within one room, yes. Warm white suits living rooms and bedrooms, and neutral white suits kitchens and work areas. Two whites on one ceiling look patchy, so we read the colour temperature printed on each lamp before it is fitted.
Do you fix and install lights in Embassies District?
Yes. Our own technicians replace single fittings and install complete lighting in villas, apartments, offices and shops across Abu Dhabi. A site visit confirms the ceiling type, the fixing points and the circuit before the scope is put in writing.
How do your crews get access to Embassies District?
Access to embassy premises and diplomatic residences follows the site's own security procedure, confirmed at the site visit, and staff details are sent in advance for clearance. Apartment buildings need a work permit and a service lift booking, and we prepare the paperwork asked for.
Do you clean diplomatic residences between postings?
Yes. A handover clean covers the whole house, from AC grilles and kitchen extractors to wardrobes and outdoor areas, with the scope agreed with the house or facilities manager at the site visit.
How do I choose a company for light fixing and replacement in Embassies District?
Ask four things: who employs the people who will come, whether the scope is written down before work starts, how the result is checked, and what happens if something is missed. The MELLS uses its own staff, quotes in writing after a site visit, checks every job (a measured test for every job, with photographs before and after) and puts right any failed check free of charge within 48 hours.
How are visits to Embassies District arranged?
Visits in Abu Dhabi are booked by appointment between 08:00 and 19:00, Monday to Saturday. Call or send the form and we agree the earliest time a supervisor can come to you.
